Now you see us, now you don’t.

As many of you know, Skype is a great tool for audio and visual communications. And it’s free. (Need we say more?) If you haven’t heard of it, well – tisk, tisk. Many of our staff at Kidd Group love it for interoffice communications and clients have really started to catch on.

The ability to talk with a client face to face without being in the same city or even office, gives a personal touch to an otherwise ‘status quo’ phone call. Of course, for those having a bad hair day, you can use the voice-only function. But where’s the fun in that?

It’s a great tool, but like any technology it comes with a warning. Just like instant messages, video calls can come at anytime. This means you must be camera-ready 24/7….(read: keep the nose-picking at your desk to a minimum). With that in mind, we recommend that you plan for video calls just like any other meeting. Set the expectations for how and when this tool should be used or you might just get caught with your pants down – literally (not that it’s happened to anyone here, just kidding).

I like the video quality of Skype. Much better than ichat. It would be nice if everyone consolidated down to one im service so I didn’t have to open 3 separate applications every time I log in. :).
