Hi there, I’m Moriah and I am Kidd Group’s resident intern. You might know me from my previous posts about things like apps or The Great Gatsy, but now I am here to talk to you about a new area of interest: interning! I’ve been at Kidd Group since May 2013 so now that I have a great lay of the land I want to share some of my experiences with you! So without further adieu here is what a day in the life looks like for me:
I arrive at 9:00 a.m., usually with my iced coffee firmly planted in hand, ready to take on the day. (If you haven’t developed a full blown caffeine addiction and you’re in college, I commend you and think that you’re definitely some sort of super hero) Next, I will check my email to see what’s up for the day; usually my supervisor has sent me something to get started on. It’s always good to have a clear idea of what your responsibilities are, and what your day will look like. One thing I’ve learned is that if you aren’t sure about something: ASK! Your supervisors will appreciate your quick questions as opposed to your just doing something that you have no clue about.
After checking my email, I push play on Lady Gaga’s newest single “Applause”, a recommendation from my supervisor, and listen to it 400 times in a row…no exaggeration. There is nothing like some catchy pop music (and previously mentioned caffeine) to get your heart pumping! Then I’ll get started on the real tasks for the day. I dabble in everything from social media content creation and interactions to the probably pretty obvious arena of blogging. One of the greatest parts of being a PR intern is that I get to see each aspect of the PR process as it unfolds. There is nothing like seeing all of the efforts that go into proposals and campaigns, and knowing that you were a part of the process is something truly awesome.
