The 2010 Census profiles have been released and the numbers reflect what many of us already knew – Florida’s Hispanic population has seen a dramatic growth in the last ten years.
Florida’s population grew 18 percent to 18.8 million with the Hispanic population growing 57 percent to 4.2 million residents. This growth accounted for 55 percent of the state’s population growth with Hispanics representing 22.5 percent of Floridians. As a Cuban and first-generation American, it makes me proud to know that our ethnic group is stronger than ever!
