Show, Tell, Eat!

Today we decided to have a little show & tell of the things that we had laying around our houses. It was great to see some of the things and learn the stories. Here are a few of the highlights of the day!

To kick things off Trish brought in some Wacky Packages that she “borrowed” from her brother (His name was on the back of every single one). Although they weren’t the Garbage Pail Kids that we were promised none of us were let down. I guess you can trace Trish’s passion for brands back to her childhood…even if it was for things like Gulp Oil and Jail-O.

Sarah Jane brought in a blast from the more recent past: Pogs! Sarah Jane showcased her massive Pog collection including a special edition Ziploc Finger Pog. She was also lucky enough to gain possession of a handful of Silly Bandz the newest craze among kids today. For my arm based fashion the Slap Wrap still rules supreme though.

The next items were absolutely incredible. Cyndi brought in 2 very old magazines. One of them was a Harper’s Weekly memorial issue for President William McKinley dated 1901! Another was an issue of Ladies’ Home Journal dated 1895. That’s from the 19th century! It was nice to see these pieces of history in the office today.

Mary Liz really came through with a magazine of her own, a 1962 JFK coloring book. I’m  in love with this cover!

I brought in some of my LP records from the band Murder By Death. I was able to barter with the band at one of their shows to get them. I separated with a handle of whiskey and $30. They separated with 4 albums. A fair trade for all. I also brought in something I recently found at my parent’s home. A bottle of 30-year-old Smirnoff Vodka. It’s really fun to look at the design of the old bottle compared to a modern one.

Finally Jerry tied things up. It was a really cool set of old miniature Coca-Cola bottles. It’s incredible that none of these have ever been lost; they’re tiny!

Last, but not least we have Blair. She forgot today was Show & Tell. Luckily for her McDonalds is right down the road. Breakfast for everyone! Have something you want to share? Leave a comment!
